Kiwi Sport(Netball)

Thursday 26 May 2016

Today Room 7 had a session on Kiwi Sport (Netball). Today was a very fun session. As our warm up we played shadow follower-defend the ball. It wasn't my favorite but it was a warm up. Our second activity was the intercept activity. We had to anticipate the ball, and read the person who was throwing the ball. We were in groups of 4 and 2 people had to try and intercept the ball from reaching the other side.

The next activity was Four corner attack/ defending. There were 4 corners and 1 attacker and 1 defender also 1 caller. So the point of the game is the 4 corners have to get the ball to the attacker and the defender has to try and steal the ball from the attacker legally. That was one of my favorite games from today session.

Our last activity was the most funniest and funnest. We were split into 2 groups made out of 13 students. It was basically Boys vs Girls and some boys. The aim of the game was that Anne(Instructor) calls out a number and the persons number that has been call out has to run to the center of the court and has to take the ball from the hoop. It was a really long and fun activity. But unfortunately our team lost. We were devastated but at the end of the day its just a game.

I had a fun session, even though I don't play netball but it's actually pretty cool not better than rugby tho(lol). Next week is the last session hopefully we will all enjoy it.

Cheers

Science Investigation

We have been working on our science. Our object was the mint plant. We had to wait and stay patient to see what is the outcome.

Hypothesis:
I reckon my controlled plant will be healthy and strong.

The plant I will be observing is:
The controlled plant. (NORMAL PLANT)

Observation day 1:Still going strong

Observation day 3: Still nice hopefully will still live.

Observation day 7: Our Plant his still fresh and Healthy
Explanation: Why did this happen to my plant?

Observation day 14: Unfortunately our plant has fallen but still a bit healthy but not 100% but its still okay

Equivalent Fractions!

EquivalentFractions!

We are learning to add and subtract fractions with like and unlike denominators.

Levi has ¾ of a bag of lollies. If he is given another 3/12 of a bag, what fraction of a bag will he have? 1 Whole

If there were 32 lollies in the whole bag, how many lollies does
32 lollies

Bob has a 3 3/4 metre of length of wood. He cuts off 2 1/3 metres.
What length of wood is left?
2 4/12
3 9/12
1 5/12

Bush Walk Experience

Bush Walk Experience

Yesterday we went on an inspirational trip to Arataki to learn about our native forest. We learnt a lot of facts about our native bushes and trees. We got split into two groups I was in Ms Stone’s group. One tree that sticked in my mind was the Rimu tree.

The Rimu tree is a very interesting tree. The leaf can become like a human comb. You can comb your hair with the spikes on the leaf. The kauri tree is the biggest tree in NZ. Tane Mahuta is  one of the oldest trees in NZ. It's more than 2000 years old.Sadly a fire occurred and Tane Mahuta (Bigger version of tane mahuta) got burnt down. Another plant that caught my eye was Horika. The Horika tree was my favourite tree because it is very intelligent. Its most dangerous predator was the Moa.

The horika made its plant spiky on the sides so it will be hard to eat. Then it transformed/changed into a juicy and tall plant just to be cheeky to all of the predators. That’s what made it my favourite.

Maths Chocolate

Today's work we are participating in a real life problem with the Kit Kat Chocolate. Our group will need to work out how to find the fraction of whole and mixed numbers in order to keep everyone happy.

Yesterday we were left with 6 chocolate bars split between 13 children. How much chocolate would each child now receive. They get 6/13

Miss stone doesn't feel like chocolate today. How much chocolate would each child receive if there are seven chocolate bars. They will receive 7/13

There were supposed to be 14 children in our group, how much chocolate would each child receive if there were 7 chocolate bars. 7/14

Thanks for viewing

Potato Experiment

Potato Experiment

My classroom are currently working on a experiment on a potato. We have a box which we will put the potato inside and hope if it will grow inside. But we cut a small hole that will make the light shine through. Most of us are electing if it will survive or not. My opinion will be that it won't survive and it will rot. That's just my opinion hopefully some of us are right. Cheers :)
