Private Peaceful

Here are some questions about the book we had read. We have more but just giving you a hint. The Book we are reading is Private Peaceful. It's a very interesting book.

  1. How does the narrator help the reader to feel warmth and sympathy for Big Joe in this chapter?
2.   After the butterflies the chapter begins ‘Big Joe ate…’ what do you notice about the tense of this chapter? Is it different from the previous chapter?

     3.   How does Tommo describe his mother?

Persuasive Writing, Auckland Transport

Dear Auckland Transport,

Have you seen what has happened over the last few months? Have you even tried to prevent the problem of people passing away in your hands? Surely you must realise. But It is clear that you haven't. I really feel that we have to stop! And wake up Auckland Transport. People gone. I’m not saying it’s truly your fault but we have to do something to solve the issue. I’m absolutely certain those who have passed, families are crushed at the moment. I’m sure you think it’s the right thing to add in these fancy new trains but you have to reconsider thinking about the problems it will cause.

I agree with trying to help Auckland, and trying to keep up with modern time. I respect your decision. Without doubt it was the right decision. It’s just the problems that has occurred after the change. In my opinion you have to add more sound to the trains so the people crossing will know if a train is coming.

I also think the securities watching should pay more attention to what’s happening around them, such as people crossing and children entering by themselves.

In conclusion, I’m sure that you will understand what I have written and use the points that I have made to  help better the lives of people who may have had someone almost die from trains.

Yours Sincerely

Moses from Glenbrae School

Science Intensive

Yesterday we had Room 7 science intensive. For Science we were split into 2 groups. I was in Miss Stone's group. I had learned a lot. First of all we talked about Science itself. Miss Stone asked questions and we answered. After that we were split into groups and had to follow the instructions given from Miss Stone. Our first experiment was Inserting flour then water change the chemical. It was very messy and dirty but we cleaned it all. We had more experiments and we played a game called Kahoot. I also learned 3 states of Science, Solid, Liquid and Gas.

Kiwi Can

In Kiwi Can today Room 7 learned a lot. We had a new Kiwi Can tutor named Mr Afutoto. First he explained about himself. He was also a former teacher. He talked a lot about himself and his former teacher days. He said "I understand Year 7 and 8 students". So we all listened and understood what he said. Our first activity was Rock Paper Scissors. The aim of the game was to play against each other and win. Each person had a peg on their collars. It came down to Levi g and Mele the final two. Mele one the first so Levi G was frustrated and wanted to win. So he tried again and he still lost. Then he talked about action plans. That's something I have learned from today. He said an action plan his when you Action it and plan it at the same time. It's like setting long and short term goals. He asked us do we have a personal or a goal that is a part of school, and most of us said yes!. After that we had a round of G K Q(General Knowledge Questions). It was a fun while it lasted.

Feedback: Today's Kiwi Can was fun and interesting because we had a new tutor and whole different mindset. Cheers

Kiwi Sport Volly Ball

This Morning Room 7 had Kiwi Sports, the sports that we played today was Volley Ball. First of all we lined up outside and assembled at the courts. At the courts we were met by the Volley Instructor Antonia. She was a professional Volley Girl. She didn't explain much about herself but she cut to the chase. Our First activity was to know how to control the ball with your palms. It was a fun little activity we practiced that move set for about ten minutes. Later on we got into pairs and passed the ball through the net. It was an okay activity but not my favorite. Our next activity was was the 3 hit setup. All you need is two people or more.

One person lays it up and the other spikes it back to the opposition. It was a fun while it lasted. After that we practiced how to spike the ball. We all the lined up on the volley net line and all ran towards the net and tried to spike it over but aim downwards. Then after we were split into 4 teams and had a game against each other. I was in team 3 so we went against team 4. Team 1 went against team 2 and team 2 prevailed. It was a tough game between team 3 and 4 but I think we just won by a point. When each game ended we swapped sides and the losing teams stay where they were. We went up against Team 1 they were a strong side. Each knew how to play.

It was tough but when Antonia said last point wins I spiked it and we won. We were cheering but it's just a game. When the session was over Antonia told us her feedback. It wasn't a pleasant feedback. She was disappointed in some of us from our class. But we are going to work harder next week and be more respectful. On behalf of Room 7 I would to say sorry to Antonia the Volley Ball Teacher. Cheers.
