My Netbook Reflection

Hi, My name is Moses, I am a year 5 student at Glenbrae School and I am in Room 9. My

Teacher is Mr. D. Nath.

This year was an exciting and fascinating year for me because I started using a Chromebook  as  tool in the classroom.  I was really fascinated by the thought of doing so many cool things on my Chromebook but it took me some time to really start using it effectively, it was an awesome experience and it was a pleasure using my Chromebooks this year.

On keyboards I am really good at typing so basically I know all of the shortcuts. It was a bit hard trying to learn the new generation keyboard techniques. But eventually I got the hang of it so that was cool. There were so many things to learn and tried my best to learn as much as I could from my Teacher I really appreciate what Mr Nath has taught me this year.

I have learnt a lot about each subject in class especially Maths. This has helped me understand a lot about the world and made me even smarter than I was before. I have learnt how to use my time tables in dividing problems and it has helped me in a lot of topics.

I have learnt how to use the Chromebook for my blogging, social skills and to do a lot of work starting from Term 1. I have helped my friends in class spell, answer Math problems and I helped them out with Reading through the learning sites on the internet.

I  am able to think about the multiple topics I am going to research on and write questions, using gmail, google docs and sharing my work on the blog. I am able read more online books, stories and articles while looking for information and deciding which sites are safe for me to access and use information from. Also sharing my learning on my blog and class blog.

Manaiakalani Film Festival

Manaiakalani Film Festival

Yesterday the whole school went to watch the Manaiakalani Film Festival at the cinemas. We all went by bus it was a green, new school bus.

When we got there we assembled outside. Later on we walked up the escalator and went inside.
When we got in, there were already lots of people there. There were 4 different schools for us to watch, including us.

It was really funl. The classes that participated on making the films at our school were room’s one, two, four, five, eight and room ten. The films were really interesting to watch. But the film that I really liked was Room 10’s film.

A few of hours later that films were over. Then we went outside and waited for the bus to arrive. Finally the bus driver got here and then we rode back to school.

WALKING SCHOOL BUS

A walking school bus is just like a school bus except children walk to and from school under the supervision of adult supervision, creating a safe and good journey to school.
Under the supervision of adult volunteers sometimes parents and children are collected from bus stop and dropped off at the school gates and somewhere parents want to go.  Along the way they learn how safely the road and have an opportunity to to see and share stories with their friends and neighbours.  What a great way to travel to school! Walking school buses also make an effort to reducing the amount of traffic around schools - in Auckland there are more than 200 working walking school buses, with over 4,000 children regularly walking to school. That’s a lot of active feet on the street.

Walking buses usually begin at 8.30am, but this depends on length of the route and the stop that the children get on at. Routes vary in length, usually about 1.5 km and/ or a maximum 30 minute walk. Most walking school buses walk the reverse route in the afternoon.
A walking school bus can operate all five days of the school week or as little as one day per week, depending on if the bus is okay for the people who goes inside the walking school

Taste Buds

 TASTE BUDS

Twisting on your tongue every day are your taste buds
Along the day tastes buds judge what each food tastes like.
Sweet, clean, healthy and fresh, is your taste buds always slick
Taste buds are small and thick.
Eating food after lunch makes you want to eat a brunch

Brushing your teeth makes it nice and clean.
Under your teeth are your taste buds waiting to taste
Drinking makes your taste buds jump up and down
Scrunchie food makes your taste buds go kapow.

Story Reveiw

The Sun and Other Inventions by Simon Cooke
WALT:  Write a review of stories we read.

This story is about Grandpa Sid who goes to a Science Fair with his grand daughter. Grandpa Sid always wanted to be the best. Then people thought he was but actually he wasn’t.  Grandpa Sid said to the audience that he created the sun. Everybody believed him but actually he was lying. The other scientist became angry when the audience did not pay attention to them so they called the security guards.

When grandpa Sid knew he was in trouble he took his grand daughter and ran away before the security guards could get him. This story takes place at the hall where the Science Fair was  held.  I liked this story because Grandpa Sid was so creative and brave.

Article Review

The Vege Car By Peter Stevens

WALT:  Write a review of stories we read.

This article is about James Nui who made a car that doesn’t use petrol or fuel. James Nui’s son, James Iti wanted to be included too, so he helped out. James Nui and James Iti made the new generation Vege car. I like the Vege car because it doesn’t need any petrol. This car doesn’t affect any people around the world. The sicknesses a normal car causes people around the world to die are asthma and cancer. This new generation car  is a highly brand new version of a normal car.

I like this story is because it is a wonderful car James Nui and James It have created.  When the car is going on the street, it smells like soup.

STORY REVEIW

Title A passion for Ponies by Donna Cherry
WALT: Write a story review.

This article is about a girl named Chelsea who loves her pony named Teddy. After school Chelsea goes home quickly so she could play. She looks after her pony Teddy everyday  when she comes from school. Chelsea had a friend named Sarah. She had a pony too.

Sarah also played with Chelsea and they groomed their ponies together. Chelsea and Sarah also cleaned up their ponies droppings which is gross and it looked like little tennis balls. Sarah loves her pony as much Chelsea loves Teddy.

Chelsea and Sarah do a lot together with their ponies like grooming, playing, brushing and a lot of other stuff. Sarah and Chelsea care a lot for their ponies body parts. If I had a pony I would do the same thing that Sarah and Chelsea did to their ponies. I would be dedicated like them.

I liked the bit about when Chelsea’s least favourite job was picking up the droppings it was really funny.
